Straight Talk Express

I couldn't believe it! I was getting ready to pull out of Paws & Claws when what to my wondering eyes should appear but the Straight Talk Express. It turned on Third Street and I figured it was headed to Elephant Butte. When I passed Hodges Corner Restaurant, I saw a group of people anticipating something. I had to stop and get gas, because the red light was on. By the time I finished the big bus was parked in front of Hodges. I parked in the storage lot and walked across the street with my camera. A gentleman introduced himself to me as Frank. Jared Bartoo was standing next to me and he said that Frank was one of John McCain's prisoner buddies. After Mr. Frank left, Jared looked at me and said, "Hi, Dolly Loftus!" That's what happens when your students grow up, and I do mean UP. He's well over six feet tall. "If I'd known you were a Republican, I would have behaved better in your class," he said with a smerky smile. I think he's practicing to be a politician. At that point Clyde Woods came over and gave me a hug. Then I spotted Josh Ashbaugh. He wanted to know if I was going to come inside the restaurant and hear what the entourage had to say. I declined since I was quite cruddy from working at the thrift store all day. I could kick myself now. I took some pictures of Kathy Vickers, Cindi Senn, and Tom Stroup and hurried home with my unexpected treasures. Now I know why I very seldom part with my camera.

Sarah

Sarah has certainly spiced up the political cartoons that I read in the ABQ Journal. Thank God for the internet. Those cartoons that are circulating are great also. I just recently got pictures of Sarah T-shirts. She is certainly doing her share for the ecomomy! One of my liberal friends recently sent me some Dem propaganda. I fired back, "Thank you." I always like to know what the other side is thinking.

Politics

So this is the day that I turn Jazzy Lady into a political blog. I make no apologies. I am so excited about Sarah being John's running mate that I can hardly contain myself. The reason that she is being attacked is because she is a definite threat to Obama. The Republicans finally have a chance in this election. I watched the political shows this morning and the Dems are scared. There is so much to be analyzed on either side. Oh my God! There I go being fair again. I've got to get over that. There's nothing fair in war and politics. I have heard so much from my environmental wacko friends and anyone else who wants to twist things their way. The lady follows my life philosophy to a tee, and she's doing a good job standing up to the press, as we all knew she would. One thing I found interesting this morning on the Fox news program was that Juan Williams was upset at the question about being asked to be the VP candidate and she said, "I didn't blink." He thought she should have showed more humility. I heard the interview with Obama and someone and he clearly said that you had to be egotist to run for the presidency. So go figure. I'll be back tomorrow if you care to read. Sorry, no pretty pictures or video clips. I'll learn to do that soon. I ain't dead yet.

My goodness! So much has happened since I last vented. I am now no longer a member of the Lakeshore Sanitation District. Past mayor Bob Barnes teased me at Rotary today. I could pontificate on that fiasco, but it wouldn't do anyone any good, so it's best left unsaid. My speaker for Rotary today would have been so cool, but she was stuck in Kingston due to our monsoonal season. She promises to be there next week. I had 45 minutes to prepare BS for the meeting. My group is so forgiving. Nancy and I did scrapbooking for 4 hours after that. She is a whiz and I'm doing a scrapbook for our workcampers that got married on June 5th. I took pictures at the wedding and at the party at Pizza Hut afterward, plus I had some other candid shots of them working at the refuge. I hope they like it. Oh, I forgot, I got this really cool picture of them "getting down" at the Pine Knot. Tomorrow is my regular day at Paws & Claws, and Marty and Sue are coming on Saturday for the weekend leaving on Monday. It should be a wonderful time on the pontoon. I hope Marty catches a fish. All I care about is swimming around with my wine on the mesa cerveza. I'm trying to get all my bases covered before I leave in August. In the meantime, I'm covering for Eliana, doing her Humane Happenings and I've volunteered to be the cashier on Fridays at Paws & Claws permanently.

Things can't stay bad forever, and seldom do

Well, here it is Thursday already. I survived and worked my tail off on Tuesday at the thrift store in the afternoon after a hectic morning at the refuge. My neighbors invited me to go to the Inn for a drink after work. Shortly before that it started raining and hasn't quit since. My Humane Society boss was stuck on the other side of the lake due to rock slides and full arroyos. Life hasn't been this exciting in a while. It's supposed to rain tomorrow and through the weekend. I don't know; the sky seems to be brightening. You know the weatherman. I think he just looks outside and makes the rest up.

Darn! I guess I'm having a bad day. Marshall and I went for our walk this morning, but after I ate breakfast, I was so tired I could hardly stand it. I laid in bed and played my solitaire game. My breakfast didn't set very well, so I felt kind of sick at my stomach. At lunch time, I got up and cleaned up the kitchen checking for my friendly ants. I had a yogert instead of lunch. The sheriff served me the papers for the water board suit. Eddie called and said he got served too. JR supposedly cancelled the suite. Oh well, we'll see. We have a meeting Thursday morning to turn it over to the city. I took a shower and did my financials for tomorrow. I hope I feel better. I think this is one of those things that happens every once in a while, ever since my second bout of cancer. It's been trying to storm all day, so it's been sort of gloomy. That sure doesn't help a sickly person. Marshall has already gone to bed.

Wow! Am I the only woman in the world to have two blogs.
Since I have figured this stuff out, I'm sure to be dangerous. I was just talking to my youngest daughter Sue and she is having some medical problems that she wants to ignore. Marty & I have assured her that she will contact the doctor on Monday. Lord help, this is why the Lord has spared me. Gosh, this isn't what I wanted to post. I had an ephiany about how I was going to abandon all my volunteer stuff and get in an RV and go do my thing. You know it's coming up on 2 yrs and that's the way Gary envisoned me. What took so long! I'm sure Marty will take care of Sue and I will persue this. There's my Gary and his dog Chubs loving on each other. We are motorhoming outside of Yuma.
Wow! I didn't think I'd ever find out how to do this; however, I ate a nice salad for lunch and it must have given my brain a boost. Yesterday was the 4th of July and it seems that we have a lot of people at the lake. My friend Judy, a co-worker at the Refuge, came over to help me catalog some old records so we could see how much we could price them for at Paws & Claws. We worked for over four hours and got three-quarters of it done. Then she decided to take me out for dinner as a pay-back for a lunch I bought her. We went to the Inn and had a cobb salad. It was good. Then she had to get home to her dog and cat. I went home to try to finish reading a book that I discovered that I had already read. I couldn't remember how it ended. Marshall wanted to go to be at 8:30, but then he kept me up because he was afraid of the fireworks that the neighbors were setting off. I imagine tonight will be pretty the same. I am so relieved to know how to work this blog stuff: I was afraid I might have to call my granddaughter. She's busy being a lifeguard and giving swimming lessons. I am so proud of her.

Wow! This has been an experience. I need to remember how to navigate this blog business. I went to look at other peoples blog and forgot how to get where I wanted to be. I have been busy touching base with my Rotary friends and Humane Society friends. The wind is starting to blow. It almost blew away our marina on Saturday evening. I need to post some of my pictures showing the damage. Fortunately, Sue and Marty and I were off the lake and ready to eat dinner when we had 60+ mile per hour winds. I'm pretty sure the dog wants me to go to bed and I've got an early day tomorrow at DHAR.
I guess I'm just trying this out: sort of like learning how to ride a bike. My day has been busy, enlightening and frustrating. Isn't that true for most of us. Marshall, my wonderful dog, and I went for our three mile walk at 6 AM. If he doesn't get his exercise, he complains in dog language all day. I had a water board meeting at 10 AM. That was the frustrating part of my day. Watching the local newsman perform his antics in front of the crowd made me want to leave. Finally, after two and a half hours, we were let out of prison. After lunch, I cashed my stimulus check and stopped by the title company to see Jane, our new Rotary president. I'm trying to get the newsletter done and need to know who our speakers are for the month of July. Good news: Josh wants to be a Rotarian. I'm so excited for him. He was one of my favorite students in middle school. He works for his dad at the title company. What happened to becoming a lawyer? I guess maybe the bad jokes scared him off.
